Why do rural and suburban counties specify different sliding gates?
In rural counties with high numbers of one-off detached homes and gravel or tar-and-chip avenues (such as Galway, Cork, Mayo, Donegal, Kerry, Meath and Wexford), wide 4.0m–5.0m galvanised steel or trackless cantilever sliding gates are common. In urban and commuter counties (such as Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow and Limerick), space-saving tracked aluminium and composite-infill sliding gates allow cars to park right up behind the front piers.
Do sliding gate prices vary across the 26 counties?
Gate fabrication and motor kit prices are consistent nationwide (€3,000 to €5,000 for electric tracked steel, €4,200 to €7,500+ for electric aluminium), with site-specific differences coming down to opening width and whether a new concrete ground-track beam (€500 to €2,000) is needed.
